A 24-port PoE switch is the standard floor switch for a UniFi office — it powers the access points, cameras and door readers and feeds them back to the gateway. The number that decides which model you need is the total PoE budget, not the port count.

Specifying a 24-port UniFi switch
Add up what every powered device draws, allow headroom, then pick the model that covers it. A floor with twelve access points and eight cameras can need far more watts than the entry-level 24-port model provides.

Do I need PoE++ ports?
Only for higher-power devices such as PTZ cameras or some Wi-Fi 7 units. Most estates need a mix of PoE and PoE+ rather than PoE++ everywhere.
Can it manage non-UniFi devices?
It will power and switch any compliant device. Third-party hardware simply is not visible in the UniFi console the way Ubiquiti kit is.
