48 Port Network Switches — Managed, PoE and Gigabit

Overview

48 Port Network Switches — Managed, PoE and Gigabit

A 48 port switch is the workhorse of almost every floor plate we kit out. We stock managed 48 port gigabit and PoE+ switches across Cisco, Aruba, HPE, Juniper, D-Link and MikroTik, and we size the PoE budget and uplinks before quoting rather than after.

Choosing between managed, smart and unmanaged

Managed switches give you VLANs, spanning tree control, port security and SNMP visibility — essential once voice, cameras and wireless share the same copper. Smart switches cover a small office that needs VLANs but no CLI. Unmanaged only belongs at the far end of a desk.

  • Fully managed Layer 2 and Layer 3 for campus and data-centre closets
  • Smart managed for single-office deployments with light VLAN needs
  • Stackable models where port density will grow past one cabinet

PoE budget is the number that gets missed

A 48 port PoE+ switch rarely delivers 30W on all 48 ports at once. We work backwards from the actual load — access points, IP phones, cameras, door controllers — and quote a switch whose total power budget still has headroom after the next expansion.

  • PoE, PoE+ and PoE++ port budgets calculated against your real device list
  • Cameras and access points on separate VLANs from the start
  • Redundant or field-replaceable power supplies where uptime matters

Uplinks, stacking and lifecycle

Port count is easy; the uplink back to core is what ages badly. We specify 10G or 25G SFP+ uplinks and matching transceivers, confirm stacking cable compatibility, and check the model against the vendor's end-of-sale calendar so you are not buying a switch that is about to go end of support.

  • 10G and 25G SFP+ uplinks with compatible transceivers supplied together
  • Stack cables and licences included in the quote, not billed later
  • End-of-sale and end-of-support dates confirmed before purchase

FAQs

Questions We Are Asked Most

Do you supply 48 port PoE switches for IP cameras?

Yes. Tell us the camera count, model and whether any are PTZ or heated, and we will size the PoE budget and quote a switch with headroom for growth.

Can you match an existing switch stack?

Yes. Send the model and firmware of the current stack and we will supply a compatible member along with the stacking cables and any licence needed.

How quickly can 48 port switches ship in the UK?

Mainstream managed and PoE+ models usually ship within one to three working days; we confirm the real lead time on the quote rather than after the order.
