Switches connect devices on a local network; routers connect networks and WAN services. Start with the network role, then compare interfaces and management options. A Cisco family name alone is not a complete specification.
Check the exact hardware part number, software tier and subscriptions needed for your chosen features. A hardware-only price is not directly comparable with a quote that includes software and support.
Before buying an older model, check its end-of-sale and last support dates. An available unit is not necessarily a suitable choice for a new deployment intended to run for several years.
